In 2021, the Association of World Heritage Sites in Finland analyzed the effectiveness of its activities, created a strategic basis for its activities until 2030, and reported on its activities so far in accordance with the National World Heritage Strategy. The Roadmap for the Future Activities of the Association of World Heritage Sites in Finland project was made possible by the Finnish Heritage Agency’s grant for research and development projects on World Heritage Sites.
The Roadmap 2030 project as part of future planning
One of the goals of the project was to find out what kind of expectations and views the stakeholders of the Association of World Heritage Sites in Finland have regarding both the sites and the activities of the association. The aim of the project was to find out how the World Heritage Sites and the association could operate more visibly and serve their stakeholders in the best way. The stakeholder research was carried out in cooperation with the market research company Taloustutkimus. The research consisted of a larger online survey and thematic interviews of a narrower sampling.
The second part of the project focused on the first strategy of the activities carried out by the Association of World Heritage Sites in Finland. The strategy includes the association’s values, the stakeholder analysis, the mission statement and the vision. Based on these, the association created strategic focus areas for its operations and related measures, which are monitored and updated regularly. The results of the stakeholder research were taken into account when preparing the strategy.
In addition to this, a report was prepared during the study on how the World Heritage Sites and the Association of World Heritage Sites in Finland have contributed to the implementation plan of Our Common Heritage: For a National World Heritage Strategy 2015-2025 which is realised by the Finnish the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Stakeholder research and strategy work form the road map drawn up during the project for the activities of the Association of World Heritage Sites in Finland until 2030.
