    World Heritage Sites in Finland

    There are seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Finland. Six are cultural heritage sites and one is a natural heritage site. Each site in Finland represents universally valuable cultural or natural heritage.

    Fortress of Suomenlinna

    The ferry trip to the fortress of Suomenlinna from Helsinki Market Square takes about 15 minutes. The site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1991.

    The wooden town area of Old Rauma is located in the centre of Rauma. The site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1991.

    Petäjävesi Old Church

    Petäjävesi Old Church is located in the municipality of Petäjävesi, approximately 30 kilometres from Jyväskylä. The church was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994.

    Verla Groundwood and Board Mill

    The Verla Groundwood and Board Mill is located in Kymenlaakso, approximately 30 kilometres from the city centre of Kouvola. The site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.

    Sammallahdenmäki Bronze Age Burial Site

    The Sammallahdenmäki Bronze Age Burial Site is located approximately 20 kilometres from the city centre of Rauma. The site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999.

    Struve Geodetic Arc

    The Struve Geodetic Arc is a chain of 34 survey triangulations stretching from the Arctic Ocean to the Black Sea. The best-known points in Finland are Oravivuori point in Jyväskylä and Aavasaksa point in Ylitornio. The site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005.

    Kvarken Archipelago

    Kvarken Archipelago and its various nature and hiking trails are located off the coast of Vaasa. The site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2006 as the first natural heritage site and, to date, the only one in Finland.

    Association of World Heritage Sites in Finland

    The Association of World Heritage Sites in Finland was established in 2016. The purpose of the association is to develop cooperation between World Heritage Sites in Finland and to improve their influence.
