  • The World Heritage Education project 2020

The Association of World Heritage Sites in Finland, together with the Association of Cultural Heritage in Finland, created the bilingual Learn about World Heritage! website in 2020. The site has material to support World Heritage education and primary education. It is intended as a material base for teachers and for getting acquainted with World Heritage, sustainable development and intangible cultural heritage.

The Material in Support of World Heritage Education project was funded by the Finnish Heritage Agency. It’s goal was to create an interesting, easily accessible material base for World Heritage education that would support teaching. The tasks and the educational material that can be selected by site or subject are ready to use as such or they can be modified to suit the user’s own purposes. The material includes crossword puzzles, picture assignments, soundscapes, quizzes, Kahoot quizzes, videos, mobile routes, aerial maps, podcast instructions as well as teaching and site presentation materials.

The Association of World Heritage Sites in Finland was responsible for the project administration, and the Association of Cultural Heritage in Finland was responsible for producing the project’s pedagogical material. During 2021, the site was marketed online, and an Instagram account @opimaailmanperinnosta was created for it.
